  • In honour of bike snob,
    http://bikesnobnyc.blogspot.com/2008/10/no-getting-around-it-cycling-and.html

Would anyone like to nominate the London equivalent of his *Hipster Silk Route.

    • I nominate **Herne Hill to Stamford Hill **(via Old Street of course!)

This way one can suggest one has been to velodrome, ride slowly through Clerkenwell on to Old Street and engage with the orthodox Jewish community once having passed Stokey N. Bike snob's NYC route has the hipsters and the orthodox crew in some sort of conflict which is why I consider this element crucial

Of course my elders and betters on the forum will make the final call

  • what shit you chattin'

  • a lot, but I thought other forum chaps/chappesses would know the best *hipster *routes

  • I do that route all the time...

  • That's cos you're a hipster Joe! And the map doesn't start in HH, its a SW9fail.

  • This seems to bypass both Dalston and Hackney, surely both happening areas where all the cool kids hang.

  • foundry pub old st > brick lane > foundry pub old st > brick lane, repeat until you get spotted and nodded to respectfully.
you can vary the route to go up to old st roundabout and check yourself out in the mirrored glass building on the left.

i reckon you need to chuck in a lap up clerkenwell road maybe one in every 5 loops.

Remember, the rider has to allude to going to Herne Hill, rather than actually going.

  • I came, I fixed, they followed...

  • I've often seen hipsters riding round in circles (sometimes backwards) failing to find HH... Strange, but true...

  • Fuck riding, its all about the barspins

  • Barspins? It's all about walking your bike up to that happening new bar...

(probably with a unispack chain fail)

How dare you, Sir! Map seems to start outside my house...

  • ....Map seems to start outside my house...

I swear teenslain, I'm no stalker.

We've found the Hipster nerve centre ;)

  • This is how we roll...

  • I think the idea of copying what someone in NY does is ridiculous, can't imagine anyone here doing that.

  • Absolutely...

  • someone once mentioned on the forum a perfect name for it, it went something like newoldoxfordtheobalclerkenold st.
surely Broadway mkt has to be on the silk route

  • you missed kingsland road

forget the bit south of waterloo and move it all , put a loop around whitechapel, bethnall green, hackney and dalston

can't believe I'm replying to this thread!

  • interesting.....the assumption that Rollapaluza copied NYC.

No assumption from my part. I know nowt about the history of Roller Racing, past or present.

I merely misinterpreted your post. My apologies. Have removed my post.

  • shit I'll have to remove mine now......

  • I remember the Jewish dude who laid my carpet taking fucking ages to get to his front door to give me my keys back. He had of course turned the doorbell off. Fucking SHABBOS!
