Guildford is a tricky one unless you approach it via Cobham, Ripley etc. I have actually twice braved the dreaded A3, but it's not much fun. The cycle lane where it exists, is full of stripped lorry tyres and rusty car parts ( I was going to say Porsche hubcaps but they haven''t had any since 1965). I much prefer the Dorking/Leatherhead scenario which can be approached via Morden, Banstead etc. However I shall be thinking more of this come the spring.
