I've been longing to do this for a while, and finally, i've found the best and easiest way to do it, not too sure if it's been done before with the mount but meh.
Take a normal (square mount) cateye flexbracket, rip the quick release bar off, get a short bolt that fits the tripod mount on selected camera(i used the one that attaches the mount onto my cam for my tripod) and literally do it up through the new hole you just made. Easy as! Going to take it to a serious mtb place in Leith Hill tomorrow, main reason i did it really.
