I was replacing my hub with a track hub, compared the flanges of both, almost exactly the same.
Took apart the wheel, rebuilt it and started to tension....I started slowly(jic) realised after many hours of building that my new hub was thinner than the previous and had way too much slack on the old spokes. Luckily I thought I had been hit by a car and the woman that hit me replaced the wheel, me being me I went down to the bike shop and got back the buckled wheel and took it apart(nice hub). I then used those slightly smaller spokes, same again just about to finish and realised that they werent tensioning right, every forth spoke was loose, checked the pattern and realised that the hub was asque in the rim..... Strange and annoying:D
