• BRAND NEW in box with (complex) instructions, here we have a high quality English threaded sealed-bearing bottom bracket made in the USofA by Real Industries. Key feature is that the chain line can be adjusted a few mm either way, not by moving the cups in and out as with Miche but by clever use of precision shims on the 107mm JIS axle (which is separate to the bearings). Comprises 2 alloy cups with sealed bearings pressed into them (replaceable), extra seals for the outside, your own weight in spacers and shims for achieving that perfect alignment, and some interesting instructions on doing so. Never used, needs (from memory) Shimano Isis BB tool or you can use a lockring tool. I can lend you the correct tool to fit if you don't have. URL to pics:

... £20 while stocks last (there's ONE). <- that was a joke by the way, if that's what gave the impression I was simply a shameless purveyor of goods

  • i had one of these, and the bb cup craked in half, and it wasn't even tight yet!

  • i've got one. its brilliant. love it

  • That shouldn't happen if the threads are clean, well greased, and you're using the right tool - it's a well made bit of kit. Also, like all BB's where you have 2 separate sealed bearings and an axle (like Campag Ultratorque and Shimano Hollowtech, which happen to be outboard bearings but are still separate) you should really chase and face the BB shell to make sure the cups end up parallel and in line when torqued up. A good guide as to whether the shell is ready for a cup (like a Miche even) is with a bit of grease (but no spindle) you should be able to wind the cups in most of the way without a tool. If they're too tight at that stage you ain't prepped properly. Bad luck!

  • it needs an xtr lockring tool. but most bike shops have em.

  • oo and.. nother nice feature.. you can double up bearings on the drive side... a real quality product

  • ^blimey tilover, you'll be wanting commission next! :)

  • yes please.
p.s the spacers are anodized red, blue and green... nice and bling

now you're getting carried away - the spacers are bling, but they go on the inside, so once it's installed you can't see them! Well, s'ppose you could buy the kit and make jewelry out of it...

  • i have cutaways on my bb and i dont have the shell on (not on purpose - i misplaced it in the workshop when i installed it)

so you can see the shiney shiney on the bike when its upsidedown and you really pay attention.

i should go to bed now.

presumably the bike hangs over your bed at night so you can see your bling bits inside the BB shell...? actually, I don't want/need to know! Good night!

  • whats the go will selling all this shit? Ebay!

  • ^ err, so cameras, computers, snowboard gear 'n stuff is OK but a BB specifically for a fixed set-up is a prob? Sorry if offer not welcome, but quite a few bits have been appreciatively snapped up by LFGSS members, and I only posted them here for exactly that reason, because I thought they would be of interest to members. I can and do sell stuff on eBay (but it ain't my living), was jus' tryin to offer some bits here that might be useful, s'all. [sobs]

  • there is a certain level of toleration for personal items, but when the person just solely posts for selling stuff it's taking the piss!!

  • I don't think that's very fair - have you looked at my posting history? I've made several contributions to posts in Mechanics & Fixin cos that's my interest, including offering use of tools and help to members via the tool library, so I think you're bit wide of the mark! I only sell to feed my own bike habit, and I've only offered here stuff I thought would be of interest to members, so I don't think that's takin' anything, but not a problem, you can go the long way round via eBay!

  • ignore dogs, reto_di_corsa, he's got his periods

  • Yeah, he's been sore ever since Cadel Evans lost the Tour.

  • so is this the same as a bmx bb then?

  • ^ta 31t®um/andyp, as long as he doesn't start happy-slapping like Cadel ;-)
anyway, jus' for the record I'm on the forum because I'm into bikes and fixed in particular, not to try and shift stuff, but enough already.

Yeah, he's been sore ever since Cadel Evans lost the Tour.

  • same in what way? it's not designed as a BMX BB, it's specifically for road/track/mtb where you need to tweak the chainline (down to fractions of a mm).

so is this the same as a bmx bb then?
