I have some deep v rims which were red and green but i decided to tone down my bike. So i spray painted them black but i assume i didn't leave them to dry long enough so the pain chipped when taking on and off tyres and even now they've dried properly stones still chip the paint off, showing the colours underneath. Is there any way to get rims anodized like they are when purchased new, or does anyone have a good idea on how to paint them and prevent them from chipping?
You need to strip them - key them - prime them - paint them and then cleatcoat so they don't chip.
If you want to anodize them you can either do it at home (car battery - Dylon™ - lots of chemicals and a big enough tank to take a rim) or just look up your nearest metal finisher and get them done there.

tynan, i have a really old frame that i want to completley sand down to bare metal, the frame also has slight rust spots on it, nothing major though. i was going to find a local sandblasting shop and get it done there but do you think it would make more sense to do it with sand paper, or just pay as i feel this might take a long time to do. thanks

Get it bead blasted, gentler on the frame and from what I'm told leaves a better finish...

Better finish with bead blasting, cheaper with sand paper.

you can home anodise if you want to but i think it can be a bit risky, try googling the subject. i read an article on it a few months back but based mostly on small bike parts and using food dye for colouring.
