Do you give way to pedestrians crossing the road that you're turning into?

sometimes pedestrians give way to me, I say thanks.
more often I give way to peds, they say fuck all.
occasionally someone steps out in front of me without looking, I avoid them, they say fuck all but I remind them to look before stepping out into the road.
some mornings I wish the world would end.
