I have a 24" Reynolds 501 frame which my dad has had from new (about 1990) and which has spent about 16.5 of those 17 years in his nice warm dry garage. No rust that I can see on the frame (some on the forks) but it has quite a few marks and knocks from where it's been in storage for so long.
It's a Peugeot Triathlon frame which I stripped it for the nice wheels etc. because it's a bit too big for me.
Don't want a lot for it. I'm down in Sussex though. Let me know if you're interested.

ha! i have one of these. 21 1/2". white. i still ride it all the time. decent little fella. funnily i got the frame for free and now someone's giving another one out.

I fitted all the Triathlon bits to a similar vintage 22.5" Peugeot frame and that's been my daily rider for a year now. It's a lot better than any £20 bike should be!

it does make me very happy when i hear these stories about decent bikes given a new life.
by the way, meneer, what make is the frame? what tubing? i can't really make it out from those pics.
if it's a nice one, damages like these can be repaired easily since it's steel. just need to braze a new drop out on it. i'm sure someone on this forum will have the skills even the tools.badrider took the dave yates course he sure knows how to do it. i think he only needs a jig before he can become a framebuilder. might be worth getting in touch with him if the frame is good.

Simon, sorry to hijack, but if that frame is going I could give it a really appreciative home!
I trashed my 24.5inch Holdsworth frame 3 weeks back in an altercation with a taxi - fractured my patella so off the bike for a bit (healing fast!).
Somehow my amazing front wheel stayed relatively true in a major head-on that bent my forks, downtube, handlebars......Was riding singlespeed and my rear brake cable had snapped - one brake was not enough to stop me.
"I do solemnly swear to get fixed." -

all, thanks for the friendly tips and offers.
@Edmundane: I don't think the frame is worth rebuilding, it looks beautiful but isn't really special. the dropout came off because it is weakened by the little screw, helping you position the wheel so I guess the other dropout is pretty weak as well. I was hoping to get a cheap old race frame but I might be able to take a bit of a loan somewhere if the option is really 'attracktive'. What are you selling?
@Simon: Thanks for your offer, sounds really good and I'm definitely interested but I'm afraid I just can't come down to Sussex these weeks. Do let me know if you are coming to London though...

Hi guys. Surprising number of people after this Peugeot frame! I'm offering it in the order people asked. I'm usually in London once a week or so but not for a few weeks I'm afraid so it'll have to be collected if you need it quickly. Cheers, Simon

@Tommy: Once the bike is build, I'll give you a shout to pass over the remains
@Simon: I won't be able to get to Sussex as soon as I hope to get my bike rolling. So if you can sell it to someone else [provenrad] earlier, go ahead! Do let me know if you haven't sold it by the time you're coming to London though.
In the mean time, I'll be here, hoping for other interesting offers like this... -

Meneer, I've got a vintage 531 Dawes frame in the cupboard under the stairs - actually with very similar 'Nervex-y' lugs to your invalid...its had a pretty crude rattlecan paint job, so no stickers or decals, but is true and in very good shape. A 56cm if I recall correctly...I'd be chuffed for it to go to a good home and wouldn't want much for it...
let me know if you're interested.

CRM2943, I'm definitely interested, how much do you want for it and where/when could I come to pick it up? Let me know on my email: meneer{at}tuurvanbalen{dot}com or on my mobile 07726423095. Thanks! Tuur

hello chaps,
sorry to crash in on the thread, but i am still in the nursary. have you ever come across a raleigh silver record, they were mostly fixed wheel, although some did have a 3 speed hub, probably going back to the 1940/50's. my dad had one as a youth and i would like to get one or put one togather for my self, my normal frame size is 54cm. i have looked on e bay and googled it etc, but with few hits and no success.
toodle pip
I had this really beautiful racing bike frame -check those lugs- and last weekend I finally got enough money together to buy some parts and build my fixed gear. So I spend a few hours on Saturday taking apart the headset, cleaning it, greasing it, putting it back together. On Sunday, I bought a second hand wheelset of the Chinese friend on Brick Lane market [art students can't afford Brick Lane Bikes].
So right before I finally start putting things together, I try to take off the beautiful vintage campagnolo derailer which results in breaking off the drop-out bit of the frame... snurghl, there goes my weekend, there goes the hope of finally ditching my specialized rockhopper.
So I'm looking for an old racing bike frame [with horizontal dropouts], the lighter the better... I'm around 1.86 tall so I guess I need a 56 -59 frame? And yes, I realise a track frame would be sweeter but I'm afraid I can't afford that at the moment. So if you were still keeping your grandpa's old racing bike in the back of the shed, it might be time to do something more useful with that space... email me:

Thanks for helping out! Tuur //PS: nice vintage derailer, anyone?
