but cyclists ARE fined for disobeying road rules all the time. The police even set up dedicated sting operations for cycles only. as it stands more motorists break the law than cyclists so maybe start with that one: speeding? why have limits when 99.9% break them? running red lights? not just cycles by any means. using mobile phones whilst driving? £60 fine but why does everyone still do it? this is just to name a few everyday things that endanger more vulnerable road users. The standard of driving in London is nothing short of comical or it would be if people weren't getting killed. The cyclists killed by HGVs this year were obeying the law maybe if they'd run the red lights instead of waiting they wouldn't have been crushed. Putting the legality aside for a moment you must make the distinction between a cyclist blindly running a junction on a red light and someone safely pre-empting green or rolling a pedestrian crossing when there are no pedestrians around Yes all illegal but there is a safety aspect. I'm not condoning some of this riding we see but I am explaining the situation which you must understand before entering into a debate like this. Ladymuck5 why not think about the bigger picture and the facts before posting such an inane thread.
