So yes, I do. even if it wasn't the law, it's just polite.
Of course, the definition of giving way might not necessarily mean waiting for them to get to the other side - just passing behind them is sufficient on a bike, though on a motorcycle I usually give them more time and space so I don't frighten the life out of them as I rev the motor.
