  • flickwg depends if its over under over or under under over ;)

only idiots do over under over :p

  • dogsballs no thats what i suggest!! mine has two radial in the middle.

    so is yours like this

If so, do you use the same length as 3x spokes for the crossing spokes?

  • yep, although i alternated in/out. i suggest go both radial in, then crossing out; or vice versa. yep 260 radial, 280 3-x

He of course means over over under.
    Damn newbie wheel builders...

  • ;) yeah!

  • I'm old school man!
So old school that I've forgotten how :]

At least I've remembered for my own wheels.

    hehe.

    cool, thanks mate.

  • gabes dogs: is your rear like this?

That's what I have, front and rear.

  • dogsballs
here's another one 3 lead, 1 trail (should've swapped on the other side though)

Re. 3 lead 1 trail, that's just asking for trouble, even if you swap to 1l 3t on the other side, all sorts of unequal torsion forces going on. Nasty.

I can vouch for the crows foot and 3l 3t. Gabes, so far my 3l 3t on 36h hub has been bombproof - not just aesthetics.

i'd never use for rear, front is fine, just a matter as i said of swap on the other side. it lasted for a month or two on my polo bike, until i relaced with opposite angled radial and twisted the hub, shitty ambrosia hubs :(

  • Couple of questions on this stuff. Is 2 lead, 2 trail OK for the rear? What spoke length should I go with (same as X2 or X3 or something else).

Also, on that hybrid 32 crows foot, obviously the radials are radial, but are the crossed length as 1 cross or 2 cross?

  • on double crow's foot, 2 are radial length, other 2 are 3x length.

  • all i just read looked like:

jibba jabba 3 jibba jabba crow jibba jabba length

  • go sit in goal and shut up!

2 lead 2 trail is the same as 1x (or a tad more), this is why mine ended up twisted as spokes were too long.

double crows foot is radial and 3 x

  • Cheers, I love the way 2l 2t looks, think I'll have a go. If not default to crows

  • I built hybrid crow's foot but still haven't ridden on one. Is it really a noticeable difference in the ride? Is there really an improvement in the transmission? I might relace my rear. But then it has stayed true as a 3-cross for over 2 years so almost feel like it's bad luck to touch it.
