that's great if that's what they're doing, helping educate rather than giving shit to cyclist!

Big write up in the standard about this
Looks like another clamp down and more fines. Good to see they are investing their money well....
I got stopped Tuesday morning, running late and got carried away racing this moped so was a little off course. so i cut into Hyde park and pulled up to talk to this CSO to check which routes were open to get out and he informs me I was on the pavement? It looks the same as the road and cycle lane but at some point in the park it is marked with "No Cycling"
He was decent enough old stick and there was no fine but he wanted my details for his report. Didn't feel the need to aggravate him fucking his day, so obliged.
Turns out you get caught cycling on the pavement more than once it's up to a £200 fine. And the number of CSOs focusing on cyclists has risen in the last month.
Maybe it’s got something to do with the fact TFL and Westminster lost £57m between them by shit investments..
Come to think of it why the fuck do they have that kind of money in Savings!! They should be spending it on improvements..

Police were all over Bishopsgate this morning. It was gridlocked with the road works and a stream of cyclists were pushing up through the stationary traffic. I was about to move out into the clear oncoming lane and pass it all, when a cyclist coming towards me indicated not to (thank you!). Up ahead there were 3 or more cyclists being booked for presumably doing just that (and other heinous crimes). Had a nice squeaky clean commute the rest of the way, stopping at all the lights and taking in the scenery.

I don't think they were giving them grief as i didn't see them doing anything wrong.

because if they invest it well they make more to spend on improvements and programs, with out raising taxes. it makes scene to invest tax rather then spend it straight off. The best policy would be to use the interest gained on investments for most programs, and costs, only touching Principal for large projects.

I passed a cyclist who had been pulled over by Plod in Bishopsgate this morning about 8.40. He was probably questioning the Plod because Plod was getting a bit in yer face and shouty. All I caught of the 'verbal exchange' was "... and you can argue about it up there for an hour if you ....." as he pointed across the road to the Police station.

+1 to Greasy Slag, why the fuck have councils got millions and millions just sitting around in Icelandic banks anyway? Fucking embezzelling cunts, politicians. And let's not get started on coppers! The Stormtroopers of farce and inane repression, with radios.

Sorry PiQuE, you may be right that good things were happening on Essex Road. Punishment was definitely being meted out on Bishopsgate though.

"Cyclists smell...there should be a fine for their odour."
I second this

I'd agree with you Mr Crash, but its not their annual reports. same for the local councils.
(i read Islingtons every year to see how they rob me sad but adds to the hate!)So is it safe to assume a larger % of our taxes will go into the savings pot to bolster their investment.
OK i went and read the tfl Annual report. as you do!
Turns out they are borrowing 1,350M GNs at an avg rate of around 4.45% and invested 2,028M GNs at rate of 4.84%
Spot on Boris...

I'm feeling rather optimistic today but .... the only time you see lots of police/ support officers its normally a revenue collecting exercise.

In one my man!
You wont see them stopping the yoot on the full suspension apollos cruising around Hackney and edges of Camden. Too much like work, no chance of getting the fine but in fact they are the ones that need bringing into line!
Instead ruffle the comfortable middle class feathers, those who can't afford the unpaid fine impacting their credit rating -

there was a story in the metro up here in manchester about a community support officer who was in a park and there was a small child swimming in a lake, they shouted at them to get out, the child began to go under the surface drowning, the CSO called the police and an ambulance but stood watching the child drowning, I can't remember the reasons for this it was either the cso couldn't swim or he wasn't allowed to get in and help. Either way they are a waste of fucking space. Oh yeh and the child died by the way.
also my mother told me this story so i can tel you that the basic premise will be true but the rest may be complete bullshit. I like to believe it though.

There's an article in the ES today about illegal drivers in London.
Green Assembly member Jenny Jones said: "The large and growing number of illegal drivers is worrying for all us; other drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. It is a real pain if you have a bump with someone and they give you a false name and address.
"But these people are trying to put themselves beyond the law; it means that every time their car is caught on camera speeding or driving in a bus lane, the letter and fine goes nowhere and they get away with it. Because illegal drivers think they can get away with it they drive less safely, putting us all at greater risk." -

I read about that, something to do with not having the training / insurance but if he was off duty would he have stood by and watched?

I am going to be a bit harsh but when i see community support officers they barely seem to be able to walk.... let alone swim...so it wouldn't surprise me.

"It is possible to bring prosecutions for causing bodily harm by wanton or furious cycling an offence which carries a sentence of up to two years in jail although there have not been any cases in London this year."
wanton or furious cycling, i love that
Riding in to work this morning along Essex Rd towards Angel and the two guys in front of me got pulled over by the police and some others were already speaking to other cyclists.
Did anyone get pulled over or know what this was about?
Just curious to know ... thanks in advance.
