Search on Sheldon Brown's website. He knew all there was to know (or more than us anyway).
I think that's where I got definitions and measuring instructions.
You'll need Flange Diameter, and to decide on your cross pattern (3 cross is most common)...
But best read about it from Sheldon's guides.
