  • Sounds like an idea... I know a couple of guys probably up for it. Group: http://www.facebook.com/inbox/#/group.php?gid=32207441926&ref=ts

  • Imaginative...

  • ASM/Platini have me confused, I can be forgetful but almost positive my family lived in the mythical place they call Nottingham last time I checked. In Newcastle now but tend to bring my bike when I come back and work those east side hills, will fetch my mallet too next time and cruise for a bit of mercenary polo if you get it off the ground.

  • posted a comment on the wall of the group asking if anybody would be interested, wait nd see.

  • Out a post on the clycle clubs forum, some of those should be interested in having a go.

  • Hey you guys... I am coming to nottingham for a training monday and tuesday. I was considering coming early Saturday or Sunday if there's anyone about who whats to ride (and watch a flatlander suffer) on your hills. Anything going on?
PM me if your're about this weekend and have time.
ps . mines a pink and white mercian with barberpole.

  • Hey guys, I'm a fourth year at Nottingham Uni and have been riding my old-school 12 speed racer in to uni for the last couple of years. It got stolen last week on Canal Street so I'm looking to get myself a fixie asap.

Any of you thinking of joining the bike club (www.nubike.com), I know the president and the road riders in the club are all very friendly so could be a good call. Hopefully see some of you around!

  • That does look rather nice but it'd be a bit of a trek to go and fetch it!

I'm doing a Mechanical Engineering degree which is all good fun. What's your PhD in?

  • Hydrogen Fuel cell technology, based in Wolfson at the end of L2. Cream Carlton outside is mine. Check out the tip in dunkirk for racers and do a conversion? cheap as chips...

  • Ah, interesting stuff! Yeah, my racer was from the tip but I went down there yesterday and they didn't have any bikes in :-(

All of the bike shops around Lenton want silly money for something suitable (and they're blatantly mostly stolen as well) so I'm keeping my eye open on eBay and here. Probably see you around the engineering department sometime...

  • indeedy, come and see my latest build... wolfson office top floor...messy desk with bike bits.

  • I may well take you up on that! I've just bought a Batavus Course off eBay which I'll hopefully be picking up tomorrow and starting work on. Excited about the prospect of having a new machine!

  • Great stuff, link to listing? Is it in good nick... some good guys for fixing things up in the dept.

Looks ok to me, bit of a gamble but it's all good fun. Initial plans are to get some new brake pads and cables, a new saddle, Charge blade bars and some bmx brake levers. Then I'll get into the serious business of going to a fixed cog...

  • No. There are no bikes in nottingham. There isn't even such thing as a wheel. Or electricity, running water, sewers, or even people. In fact, nottingham doesn't exist.

Bet you wish you'd seen this before embarking upon your NVQ in Reggae Studies...

  • My boy Chris is there and just got a bike, he designs miniatures for Games Workshop..true story.

  • Buenos Tardes from Nottingham. I ride a Fillmore usually around town but often in Beeston / Uni area say hello next time.

Dude, apologies for not replying to this sooner. This site gets blocked as at work and i don't have the internet at home.

No pics uploaded - its just the OTP fillmore though so nothing mind blowing really. I was in the process of building up an old frame i found but the fork is well and truly corroded to the stem and the stem has snapped so its on hold for the time being until i can get it off. Bit of a shitter.

I noticed a fairly sleek looking SS (or maybe FG - it had both brakes though) outside Waterstones today - I think it was a giant bowery although didnt stop to look (i think if it is it's a chap called shay who works in Brik Barbers) and a charge plug with green deep v's outside the Orange Tree a couple of days ago. NG-FG on the up eh?

  • yeah seems to be more and more.

  • Bikes and booze sounds beautiful. I'd be up for that - Anyone been to Jam Cafe? It's real nice in there and plenty of spots to park up roundabout.
