Vauxhall bridge road is the one I had in mind too! It's not always a problem but really annoys me when people start queuing in the feeder lane when the ASL is completely empty and when the first two vehicles in the left hand lane are indicating left, just bad manners. If I have to, I'll filter across to the right, (to allow other cyclists to enter the ASL), I'm perfectly capable of anticpating the lights by a few seconds and filtering left again without getting in the way of motorbikes, who are quicker off the lights or any other traffic.
That said if the ASL is full and there is a vehicle turning left I'll usually hang behind the car in the feeder lane to stop people undertaking the left hand turning vehicle.
