Littigator, it sounds like you were not positioned in the middle of your lane and gave the impression to the lorry that you were on the right lane? You need to be either clearly in front of the lorry or way behind it.
But most importantly be patient, you do not have to be at the front of the queue, just stay behind a car and wait for the traffic to move, they will give you more space and when safe position yourself back towards the left.
@Julianmere. Why not have an entire programme on freight and the traffic impacts on city centres, motorways, accidents, noise pollution, operation mermaid etc...
