STOLEN today, 06/10/08, between 13:45 and 16:30
Locked around a tree outside the entrance to bike shed of Imperial College in South Kensington
Lock is gone too (its a yellow-orange Oxford cable lock). It's a black Giant Bowery '08.
It's a large size.
Has a flip-flop rear wheel.
About 2 months old (used regularly, but not every day), a little dirty.Has the brackets for Cateye lights on the handlebar and seatpost (I have the lights) as well as a front and rear circular reflector.
The cap of the presta valve on the rear wheel is missing.
The brake lever cap on the left hand side of the handle bars is scuffed where the silver metal cap is.Otherwise it looks just like it came from the shop.
Looks pretty much like this (with the above modifications):
a) you're not supposed to lock around the tree's
b) there is a secure facility with 2 sets of doors, 2m away
c) cable locks are shit
d) imperial is a known theft hot spotthere is CCTV in that area so security should be able to see who it was. check gumtree, as the guys who used to steal them put them up there!

Man, this is depressing... so many sweet bikes now being ridden by thieving fuckers.
I had my bike stolen today (Tues Oct 7) at about 10am on Great Titchfield street, W1. outside the digital agency Dare.
Bolt cutters sliced through the chain. It was a new single speed that i got from Camden Cycles.
No branding, but very unique - white track frame straight black handles with white grips, white chain, white gear.
black handles, Black wheels/rims. gold hub.All brand spanking new, very little dirt and my new love..
I only bought it on Saturday, and it's already GONE!if anyone sees it, or hears of anything, please please let me know...

Someone stole the wheels off my bike last night! 07/10/08 between 10 and 11. It was chained up outside the Prince George in Dalston.
It would be nice to get them back but i'm not hopeful.
I know the pictures not great but if anyone see them being sold online or down on Brick Lane market please let me know.

sorry to hear about your wheels, but why do people still lock bikes outside this pub? some much stuff gets pinched from there.

@ Rik,
Yep, it was exactly like that. black rims and handlebars, white everything else - and a distictive gold hub.I saw a black kid, about 17 years old riding it this morning along Hackney road at 8:20am towards the west end. Fucking annoying.
Hopefully it'll show up on brick lane on the weekend.if anyone sees it around, please let me know.
cheers,
Tom -

Tom, do you have any idea how many of these identical bikes there are in London? So unless you made some significant custom changes I'd advise you not to approach the rider of a similar bike and accuse them of taking yours.

@tomagochi, put in the searcj of this forum the work UNIPACK, and have a read to the threads, will give some lights about what tomasito is saying, anyway... they make you a favor

black handles, Black wheels/rims. gold hub.does "unique" still mean something one of a kind? or has that changed since yesterday??

No, you're right, he's wrong. Neither can something be 'very unique'. It's either unique or it's not.
At least you've still got Bjork face -

Just got a text from my housemate who's had his bike pinched while he was swimming. Presumably either from Clissold leisure centre or the Lido at London Fields - More details soon.
It's a bit of a beater but still - it's how he gets around. Will be checking BL market tomorrow with a hammer and an angry face but on the offchance anyone spots a geared Raleigh Quasar (silvery colour) then a PM wouldn't go a miss.
Apologies for the absolutely abysmal, out of focus, blurry, shaky, phone photos but he's only had it a week since getting his last one pinched and I've hardly had time to see it!

Edit:
Just heard he wasn't swimming when it got taken. Even better...He was at a mates house on Dalston Lane (114) and had parked it unlocked outside the house - while he and the guys were loading stuff into a van parked out front.
However - if you know the building (it doubles as an arts/live music venue) then you'll know that the front door is in a courtyard and actually behind a 7 foot gate and a 15 foot hedge...
So - In broad daylight next to a busy road, some one had, within a space of a few minutes; jumped/scrambled over a spiked gate, taken a bike, somehow got back over the gate with the bike (you can't even see the front fucking door from the street!!!!!) then run off with no witnesses... There was a bus stop outside but when asked none of the passengers ''saw anyfing guv'"
Stunning...
That strikes me as a lot of fucking effort for a 60 quid bike... Again, I know it's only a beater but this is the second one within a short space of time for him (the first was stolen after he left it outside the Lido with 2 locks on it in front of a cafe full of people...)
Neg rep for London.

Stolen... Trek Soho single speed, from the inverted-U stands on Duke Street Hill/Tooley St opposite London Bridge station. Stolen earlier today (12 Oct 2008), some time between 9 am and 7 pm.
22.5" frame.
Stock bike, no customized parts, nothing particularly distinguishing about it.
Lightly used, in good condition.
Had an Abus chain lock wrapped around the top tube (it was attached to my mini-D with one of those Kryptonite cables... infinitely stupid, I know, see details below). The pic below is the 2008 version, I'm not sure the stolen bike is exactly the same, but it's very similar.
This bike was my boyfriend's (I can't help it, I'm already using the past tense, sob sob). He's only had it a few weeks... he was looking after it for a friend who recently moved to Hong Kong, so he sort of got it for free (he'd never spend money on something so fugly).
Anyway, we were in a rush to get out of the house and catch a train this morning, and he forgot his keys, so he couldn't use his Abus chain lock. He discovered this only after we got to London Bridge. We were supposed to do the Go Ape thing in Kent, but I advised him to forego the outing and keep his bike safe instead.
He said no, he thought it would be ok, and simply looped his Kryptonite cable thingie around his bike and attached it to my Fagheddaboudit mini-D. I advised him against it, but he thought I was being paranoid. I didn't want to nag him, so I bit my tongue.
Well, turns out I wasn't being paranoid. My bike was fine, it was locked Sheldon-style, but my boyfriend's Kryptonite cable was cut. I'd been hoping against all hope that maybe it would be ok, but I suppose I was being even more optimistic than a banker who irons 5 shirts on a Sunday these days.
We're both kicking ourselves now... him for not listening to me, me for not nagging him.
I'll scour Gumtree and eBay, and we'll try Brick Lane next Sunday. But I figured I'd post this up here out of due diligence, even though I'm not particularly hopeful.

shit, nice bike cg. london bridge / borough is a notorious hotspot, I've seen bikes taken in broad daylight with dozens of people passing by...
-
• #895
That shit about having your bf's bike nicked :0( So just to clarify, it was only secured to your bike via a kryptonite cable?
-
• #896
Yep. The Kryptonite cable was secured to my mini-D, which was keeping my bike safe.
Like I said, infinitely stupid. I warned him against it, telling him that the cable could be cut quite easily, but he thought I was being paranoid. I suppose it would seem like paranoia if you're from a small German town. But this is London, my friend.

My bike was stolen from my garden on Tuesday Night or Wednesday early morning. It is quite unique, frame is made for Czech Track Team from Prostejov (written in head tube) The stickers are gone and wheels are different (black Remerx rims, silver spokes, front hub is Shimano Dura Ace and rear Campagnolo Record fixed) Has black seatpost, fork and handlebars. Was stolen in Deptford SE8. Please give me a shout on vilda@klikni.cz in case you see the bike. There is only one in London for sure.

My bike has just been stolen from the corner of Rivington Street and Curtain Road.
It's a light blue holdworth frame with a white selle italia saddle. Single speed with bullhorn handle bars (no tape)
Unfortunately I don't have any decent photos of my bike but I do have this...
I'm going to brick lane market on the off chance it will be there on sunday, but if anyone sees this for sale anywhere please let me know. I'd be really grateful. I loved this bike, built it myself and am absolutley gutted it's been nicked. Thanks. (07813 133 793) -

people, post your phone numbers if you've lost a bike. that way if your bike is spotted, we can slap a lock on it, then call you sharpish to come collect.

It is a gold-ish road bike conversion, covered in black and white stickers, black Dirt Harry brake lever, risers, white champ grips, grey top bar pad, shitty On One wheels, San Marco Rolls, MKS pedals with black plastic toeclips and white straps.
was last seen outside the Electric Showrooms party.
