That's not a cassette btw.. it's just sprockets squashed in there for chainline purposes. Cranks from the shop's bin.

I was quite rude to a builder once, does that count?

That would be beating a builder, assuming you hit him!

The last beater project started fine and cheap. KHS frame with all the small bits.
Then lucked into a pair of cheap tied & soldered wheels.
And just like that it's no longer a beater project because those wheels can't go with that frame.
Off course again.

@ snoops, that is not what i would call a beater! looks reealll purdy. that the frame you procured on ebay?
@ dmczone with regard to the OP, i did exactly the same, part by part. From a total shitheap to a sparkling swan. Now looking into locks.

Yeh frame i got off ebay, only track frame my size i have seen for sale on there.
Well i'm treating this like a beater as previous bikes i have pampered and swooned over like a wet flannel. This will be ridden hard and stickered up and bashed up and loved in its own way. tough love, but oh how i forget that i polish the njs stamp on my dura ace every night.

I have a fully functioning beater, old Raleigh frame and bits with a Halo wheelset.
I ride it when it rains and fear for my safety. -

RPM's beater used to look like this. I miss it!

my polo bike came from a rubbish pile. the front deep v too. the bits were cheap, from an older ride or new (rubino tyres). does that class as a beater?

Whoah! Slaytanic1's favourite bike! Weird dropouts! Could almost turn 'em into track dropouts...

On the blue bike i cut the forward facing dropouts off and bolted on track ends in their place.
I've gone on a different tack...
Used to ride everywhere on old MTB.
Got an ebay road bike, old MTB became the beater.
Got a newer frame, old frame gets second rate parts and becomes the beater, MTB gets it's gears back and a bit of a clean up.
Next logical step... Get new frame again...etc.
