  • Hello - first post, been a lurker for a while and founds lots of interesting things, but never had anything interesting enough to contribute!

Basically I was shunted from behind by a 'bendy' bus whilst riding along Regent Street this morning. I wasn't really hurt (couple of slightly bloody finger tips, swollen elbow, aching hip) and my bike wasn't too badly damaged (ripped up bar tape, scratched up toe clip, both wheels buckled but rideable).

Could take a while to explain the accident and I don't want to bore you on my first post but it was his fault, he said he didn't see me, despite the fact he'd overtaken me seconds before and I was in front of him at some red lights when he pulled away and hit my back wheel.

The driver stopped (along with a couple of nice pedestrians who didn't actually witness the moment of impact but hung around to check I was OK) and I got his details...driver number, bus number/registration. He wouldn't give me his name but despite the fact that I was thinking pretty straight I managed to give him my name and address which I really regret.

I'm going to contact TFL with all the details, but I just wondered if any of you guys had been through this process and had any handy tips to send my way. I'm not into ripping anyone off I just want them to cover the cost of getting my bike repaired (and perhaps a little extra for my aching hip and elbow!).

I'm pretty sure I've read a thread along similar lines in the past, but having searched this was the closest I could find.

    Cheers
    Pete.
