  • that is not the whole picture either Tynan. There is virtually no drug-'problem' here, weed is still an exotic luxuary, with fags and booze being the opiuates of choice, so there is no drug related thefts, which i would say accounted for a fair amount of the UK bike theft numbers?

And the reason the conviction rate is 99% is the fact that they only prosecute numpties who are stupid enough to get caught. The police here are crap, and they leave the Yakuza, who are responsible for any large scale crime WELL alone.

Good point, drug related theft must be a large factor.

That's it, I am moving out there !

  • i really should get a job with the Japanese tourist board... i feel i have a knack for selling Japan.

i would bet £100 that you could pass out on a street in Kobe, with your bike at your side, and your phone in your hand.. and you would still have it in the morning

  • You be eaten in the UK, eaten I say, by tramps, tramps I say, tramps.

  • My mate has just gone to prison after they found a little bit of weed in his car. He's in there until the trial no questions asked then will get his sentence on top. Not even allowed any contact with his family. Thats a good reason for me why not to live in Japan.

  • Forgot to add. Obviously he's totally fucked.

  • I tried shrooms for the first time in Osaka in 2000. I bought them from a hippy shop, over the counter. Wheeeeeeeee!!!

Now the law has changed, unfortunately.

On another note, scrotes (whom I probably taught) stole my scooter at least twice. I can't remember. Good job, really, as I was pretty good as crashing the bastard, and eventually 'upgraded' to a kei car. What a beauty!

  • I want to go to japan, get fast and race Keirin.

    but I'm slow,old and don't speak japanese.

  • I was offered an awesome job in Tokyo 3 years ago, I'd jsut met my girlfriend and there was no way she could come with me so I turned it down.

  • in london, i carry two locks around with me at all times (fug d-lock and abus chain lock). i have taken to freelocking my bike here in berlin. earlier today, i was out riding without a lock and left my bike against a post while i went to get a water. i loves berlin...

I carry two locks in London too (a mini evo and an abus chain). It's pretty mad living in a society where you have to assume that one really good lock still has to be backed up by another let alone doing it the Japanese way with some plastic chain.

Other thing to note is that there are booze and cigarette vending machines on most street corners. Imagine how long they would last in London.

    Women are cunts...

  • Did you mean to call my girlfriend a cunt?

  • Generalisation.

    I'm sure she's lovely.

  • Sorry, it was a stupid question. I get a bit touchy sometimes.

  • Wouldn't worry about it. I like being touched.
