Crank Arms/BB - attaching

Posted on
  • I'm gathering the bits together for my bike and the next thing is the BB. I've got my Sugino 75s a while back but all that came in the box was the crank arms and the small screws to attach the chainring to the spider. Should I have also got the bolt (if that's what it is) that attaches to the BB spindle or does this come with the BB (I was gonna get a Phil one).

    Thanks,

  • sug75's should be used with ISO BB's i think ...You could get a Phil or if not, any campagnolo one will do the job.

  • The crank bolts (for that is what they are called) comes with the bottom bracket.

Like lpg says Sugino 75's square hole is shaped to fit on an ISO tapered spindle not a JIS spindle - although you can get away with putting them on a JIS the chainline will be less than ideal.

The only ISO BBs I can think of right now are Sugino 75 BBs and Hatta R9400 (expensive).

  • Well, nearly 6 months after my lost post and the bike's about to arrive and I've just realised I haven't got any crank bolts. I got the Phil BB from total cycling and when it arrived I'd forgotten all about this thread.

Should the Phil BB have come with the crank bolts? And as I've not got any are they standard? Will any bike shop have them?

    Will these do...? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=3340

    Thanks,

  • Hubjub sold me some nice Sugino crank bolts for the price of a pint (in London).
