  • no such thing as gansta rap anymore though.

  • the last youth movement to be punk in attitude was probably Jungle or Rave.... IMO

The post uk-garage british rap scene which became to be known as grime, I would say was rather punk.

100% DIY, pirate radio, small grimey club nights, no money, no glamour, white label records peddled to the shop by the artist, fuck loads of attitude, anti-establishment, musically nieve, energetic/fast, lyrically childish

you get the idea, I think thats as punk as you get these days, of course that scene has now long been commercial too.

  • no such thing as gansta rap anymore though.

    what about bloodcoredeathgun rap/metal, then?

  • I have a mowhawk and kinda look like a punk but I dont define myself as a punk I define myself as growing up with the following music:

    Prodigy
    Jungle
    Aphex Twin
    etc...

  • object and seb have got mohicans, they ride bikes. what's the fuckin problem?

And they are both punks. Good for nothing punk-ass bitches, to be precise. Especially Em.

fixies fuck the police! fuck politics! no-fuckin brakes MOTHERFUCKERS!!! fixies rock fixies rule! fuck you man, fuck everyone's momma! clips n' straps! NJS beer fuck skate drugs sex scat fuck shit BRAKELESS!!!! NO FUCKINGGEARSBRAKESWHEELS!!!!

I think those are actually Team Spyder lyrics.

And being punk (i.e. subscribing to the 1977 aesthetic, sound, life style, etc) is only different to people that do historical re-enactments because the people running around dressed as cavaliers, etc, get changed when they go home.

Also, dressing like a cavalier would be way more anti-establishment than perpetuating the Vivien Westwood Spring 1976 collection's aesthetic. Same goes for grunge (although that was Marc Jacobs, not Vivien Westwood) - although Mudhoney deserve a special mention for being so punk it hurts.

  • the last youth movement** I was young enough to be part of** was probably Jungle or Rave.... IMO

    ;)

not like the kids today! not a shred of anti-establishment in them!

  • Oh my fucking god. This thread is amazing (By amazing I mean fucking stupid).

  • fucktarded

  • I'm not really one to talk tho', I start stupid drunk threads all the time...

  • *the last youth movement** I was young enough to be part of** was probably Jungle or Rave.... IMO*

I gave up monitoring youth culture about 10 years ago....true, what are kids today into?

  • Don't you have one of your own you can test now?

  • beacuse punk (like all music) is about making money, and leather jackets are hella uncomfy to ride in

  • his hair is rather spiky....

    knife crime i think

  • his hair is rather spiky....

  • Why do people feel the need to pigeonhole people (whether it's due to their tastes in music, clothing and or body modification, or anything else)?

I ride bike because I love bikes. I modify my body because I want to project my internal aesthetic onto the blank canvas I was born with and see no reason not to experience something so inherent in Human nature, people have always tried to make themselves into something they find attractive (wearing clothes is exactly the same, I just do it in a more permanent manner). I listen to music I like because I enjoy the emotions that it creates.

And for those smart ass bitches who will likely try and dispute the first sentence I have my reasons for applying the label object to myself. But, this really isn't the place to discuss that.

  • Here in Copenhagen theres a pretty big bike-punk scene.. A few people riding tallbikes, even more people riding Long John's (google it), even more again people riding Christiania Bikes (google it), and I think about 10-12 Fixed Gear-punks..

  • You're such a bike lover, Object.

Consider yourself holed, by a pigeon.

(I'm not sure if this is the MGF version, I can't hear it)

  • You're such a bike lover, Object
I was loving your bikes all last night whilst you were cheating on them with Mal.

  • I ride a bike, and, and, I play in bands, and, and, I run a vinyl mail order, and, and, I put up travelling bands, and, and- am I punk yet?

  • Keith from 999 rides a custom built mtb with a 3 speed Sturmey Archer - he commutes to his job as a gravedigger. I know this because I serviced it.
