  • I stopped myself from this rant yesterday, I think that today it's more valid.

I agree with Pistanator, but not for the same reasons. I thinnk it's abhorrent that people obsess over their heritage. Who gives a damn? What you distant family once was (in history) will never be a reflection of who you are. I don't think it's any more pathetic that DW is proud of his Scottish heritage than I would if he was a card carrying pro-yank who insisted on raising the stars and stripes on a flagpole in his garden every morning.

What I don't get is why anyone cares? I grew up in a small town in Yorkshire that I personally think is shit but everyone else always seemed proud of. Why? The place I come from is not a mark of who I am just like the mark of what my ancestors used to be is not a reflection on me.

I think DW is a fool for being proud of his background, not because he's a third generation American who associates himself as Scottish derived but becuse he cares enough about geographical location to even want to portray an image in the first fucking place.

I also think he's an awesome frame-builder who has done this forum a service by showing up here and talking about his work despite the fact I don't understand something which means a great deal to him.

That said, at the end of the day my opinion has as little baring on DWs pride in his history as anyone elses (That is to say less than fuck all).
