The softshell is relatively good for a Rapha product. Elements are poorly finished e.g. stitching, esp round the sleeve / glove 'inners' stitched into them. (I find stitching to be a weak spot with quite a bit of Rapha stuff) But overall the materials and more importantly the cut make it a very good jacket. I like Goretex XCR for snowboard / mountain jackets but don't think this fabric would work for close fitting cycling stuff.
Even with your levels of wealth, ~£230 is a lot to drop for a jacket but the softshell beats Assos stuff in that - at a push - you could actually wear it off the bike.
