saw these a while ago in some cool japanese store in soho. Now these look like fixed gear shoes.

i was thinking about buying these until i realised what a load of bollocks they are. they cost !!!£70!!! and are essentially the same as the era (which is £35-40). oh yeah, and they come with a matching vans-branded saddle bag which no-one in there right mind would ever dream of using. also didn't think i'd be able to look at myself in the mirror again after having bought 'fixed gear' shoes. so i went down to the vans shop and bought some ordinary eras. job done.

sure. i'm not criticising anyone's decision to buy vans, i'm just pointing out that using a "fixed gear" shoe for marketing has generated enough interest that it resulted in a shoe sale (even if it wasn't the fixie shoes that were ultimately purchased). that is the job of marketing - hence "job well done".

yeah i generally think so, but i still think the fixed gear shoe is gimmicky and lacks the usual authenticity that vans cultivates.

yeah, but chrome did it, they pretty much copied vans slip ons but with more rubber, i reckon its seen as a gimick because its now double the price due to the fixed gear conotations.

sure, clips are good, but they arnt for everyone, especially not me, i dont want to have to take an extra pair of shoes everywhere i go.
