I heard it in the news yesterday.. Chris Hoy is saying that they should keep HH. Which is great news. (they tried to close HH two years ago too, apparently developers have offered a lot of money for it. The out building was repairable just before the offer then mysteriously got vandalised beyond repair).

If I get to speak to Chris at Salford - OR maybe is Caspar and Winston get to maybe they could ask him if he is against it closing. I will defo ask if i get the chance.

Well there's enough local hobnobs round here (herne hill) that run the Friends of Herne Hill soc, and other assorted do gooding type organisations who would probably join in any objections to it being sold.
In the current financial climate, I can't really see the site redevelopment being economically valuable for a property developer, in comparison to other sites in London. And DE isn't exactly short of a bob or two. We could go and ask Janet Bilbie direct, as her name and contact details appear on the DE SIR docs on the charity commission website.
As for the vandalism, its been a teenage drinking haunt for ages, since I was a teenage drinker in fact. More so since the lido got cctv linked into the police shop down the road.

Oh and a mini bump. I've asked a Dulwich College teacher to go and find out about the DE sale rumours. News / rumours / fagging next week I guess.

cool.
so many people are under the impression that once stratford is built, we lose HH. But I'm sure that really isn't the plan. I thought they were adding the facilities, rather than updating/moving them.

I'll try and bump into him this week. Its the second week back at school and all that... They'll need somewhere as a training track for the olympics anyway, just worried that as its not covered, they might find it cheaper to build a replacement than use HH.

I'm going to start a fixed ride session on sat mornings at Richmond park.
attempting to structure it to work in a similar manner to saturday training (as far as possible) endurance based, but those short hills will help sprinting.
I'll be doing it whatever, if others want to join in then all the better.

Sorry RPM, I haven't even been on the track, but aspirations rule. If the ride last Sunday taught me anything, it was that I need to get fit. And the thought of you with a big whip, driving me around Richmond park is strangely appealing. VeeVee says she might even join with a bag of madeleines biscuits.

RPM = target for Sat morn... done.

Just had confirmation that there is definitely a jumble at HH today, about 12 stalls apparently... See ya there...

true, but sooner or later they'll need to put some money into HH and sort it out a bit

When are you planning on starting as I'd be up for this .
-
• #40
excellent, basically as soon as the track shuts.
even if the weather is filthy, I'd still like to get people out, even if it's for a couple of laps and a cafe stop. I'll start a thread when we begin the begin

I am really up for Saturday morning rides (assuming I have neither been raving the night before or have a fencing competition that weekend).
I live in Kew, so not far at all from the park.
I do a great line in coffee (its one of my other areas of obsessive geekdom).
So do we want to use my place to assemble for a pre Richmond coffee and people can leave clean dry clothes at my place before we go round the park?

I'm not advising caffeine to anyone on my training sessions!
but that doesn't mean you can't join in if you turn up wired to the eyeballs.
It's not going to start until HH is properly shut, we've got the whole winter so there's really no rush.
as i say, I'll post full details when the time comes (in a week or two probably)

Caffeine is legal and effective. Coffee tastes great. What's not to love? :)
-

the massive bonk so soon after the rush.
no staying power. I like to go all day, and all night.
you going to SBs tonight?
-
• #45
Only up to a certain amount though.
-
• #46
i'm well up for this as soon as I'm back on the bike proper.

you going to SBs tonight?Nope. Caffeine (supposedly) releases fat into the blood stream and this (supposedly) delays the use of glycogen.. so it actually does make you go longer. I don't have sugar in my coffee so no sugar crash woes.
Yes to the Souths. If I can find it.

"The present IOC legal limit is a urine concentration of 12µgml of caffeine. A person weighing 70kg may have to consume 5 or more cups of coffee to reach the banned level of caffeine consumption. Consumption of 2-3cups of coffee 1-2hours before competition would not result in a positive doping offence."
http://www.nutritionalreviews.org/caffeine.htmOf course I'd check the rules before you compete in the olympics :)

My 'doctor' sorts all that for me.

heh.
I know for a fact it makes me tired after the initial "rush" and I don't take sugar neither
You know I've caused internet panic by spreading the HH closing rumours. Where did that all start from (other than Dulwich Estates not offering VLC anything other than short term tenancy agreements)?
