They're laughably weak. 30 seconds and an emeryboard would break through them failing that you could probably pull it open using your fingers.

The locking mechanism looks like one of those barrel locks that kryptonite had a problem with that could be opened with a bic pen

When I was in Tokyo I was amazed at how many nice bikes you see on the street, either not locked at all or with the puniest cable lock just through the frame and wheel. In that sort of environment I'm sure these locks are fine, but anywhere else...

Mine has never been broken yet!
Although i do use it in conjunction with a fag chain AND a fag d-lock...:)
As an extra deterrent it's good cos it's so light to carry, but on its own....shit!

they are pretty much only locked up so a drunk person wont borrow it to get home.. i love japan!

Same as Berlin- why is bike theft so prevalent in London? I guess in Japan/Berlin I didn't see many pricey-looking affairs in the street.
