Think I want a touring bike?

For ages I was thinking I wanted a touring bike.
But then, for some strange reason, when I'd finally finished putting it together it was suddenly a bright pink, early '90s Merckx Corsa Extra.

Is it sacrilege to put a rear rack on that once in a while?
And are those rear axle-mounted faux rack mounts any good?

I think if it gets you from a-b with the shit you need, who gives a fuck what it looks like.
