You had a certain amount of sympathy from me until that statement. I was about to say that (as an advanced driver) that the 'give way to pedestrians when turning into a road' rule does not apply to light-controlled junctions, and that if I was in a similar situation I would have justifiably felt hard-done-by for the assertion that I was in the wrong and while I wouldn't have responded in the same way, I would have been fuming.
But not any more. Right or wrong, that statement suggests you have a history - that statement suggests you like to try it on. I don't think that's the best way to get sympathy.
