I stand corrected - I may have been thinking about parking FPNs.
Or I may be talking out of my jacksie.
FPNs won't show up on a CRB check as they are not counted as 'convictions' - so you were partly right and not talking out of your jacksie.

im not going to dispute the fine tried that already with a train ticket dodge and the fine got doubled...
You had a certain amount of sympathy from me until that statement. I was about to say that (as an advanced driver) that the 'give way to pedestrians when turning into a road' rule does not apply to light-controlled junctions, and that if I was in a similar situation I would have justifiably felt hard-done-by for the assertion that I was in the wrong and while I wouldn't have responded in the same way, I would have been fuming.
But not any more. Right or wrong, that statement suggests you have a history - that statement suggests you like to try it on. I don't think that's the best way to get sympathy.

Not hitting people will increase your time trial performance more than an aerospoke.
Seriously, you are all getting bogged down in the legalese of this issue.
The fact is, if you can avoid an accident you must. Right of way does not equal right to hit someone or knock them out of your way.
If you plough into someone where you could have avoided it you are, correctly, guilty. Always avoid hitting people, peds are stupid, peds are stupid, peds are stupid. Don't join or exploit their stupidity... avoid it, like them.
You never have a right to hit someone, if they jump out in front of you then they are guilty, because they did not avoid an accident when they could have.
Mooks I'm also an advanced driver and I'm sure you'll agree that the most important element of driving, just like cycling, is observation. A good driver should rarely (if ever) need to rely on the right of way due to having seen the pedestrians and avoided the accident.. you don't turn a bend without seeing what is around it, or at least seeing as far around it as you can comfortably stop. Same goes for cycling... its why cyclist make the best drivers.
Peace

Without a doubt. Cycling helped me pass my advanced driving test because I knew to look out for certain things, but my advanced driving has also saved my life while cycling more than a few times because I've been able to anticipate people doing stupid things and have been able to respond accordingly.
I tend to think along the lines of 'just because I'm in the right, it doesn't mean I'm safe'. Being in the right lane doesn't help if someone sideswipes you because they didn't look in their mirrors, the same as it doesn't stop me getting hit by a red light jumping car, even though my light's on green. While legally the pedestrian was in the wrong in this case, it doesn't justify you hitting them (as I know countless people have said before me).

but come on who ever pays on the train anyway! its like copying tapes, everyone does it ;-)
no, everyone don't do it, especially in London, unless you're one of those skinheads I saw in South Wimbledon tube station pushing a staff off and jumping the gate trying to get a free ride, the poor staff twisted his ankle.

Tapes? Do you still have tapes up-north?

Home taping is killing music.

That's just cruel...

Just to be pedantic.... ;)
It's not 'right of way' (which relates to the ability to go somewhere) but 'priority' (who goes first).

sorry it was suposed to be a joke.. copying tapes it what people used to say about semi illegal things when tapes were still around,
But home taping was illegal (and still is). Along with software piracy and downloading movies without paying/permission.
Fucking leaches.

Why don't you pay the fine and then go see one of the many personal injury lawyers and take the woman to court for causing you injury. If burglars can sue the houseowners that attack them then im sure you would have a case and you could probably be awarded what you paid in the fine with an extra couple zeros on the end of it.
TV cop show advice
"I ain't saying nuffing til my brief gets here" pretty much true
Never open your mouth to the bobbies without the cliche of a solicitor (a competent one) present.
If you can afford it, time and money, have your day in court.
Most police are hopeless at following POR.
