it was used to varnish wood furniture back in the old days, also it was used in oil painting and for gold leave varnishing. it is pretty hard to get a even surface, yu need to polish it on with a leather piece, stick a wool chunk in the leather so the liqid will stay longer in the leather. shellac drys out to a hard surface, it isnt alcohol resistand. i ´d prefer a linseed oil for wooden floors or a wax for your bar tape.
