Hello London riders.
My name is Max and I'm living, riding, being in Portland, Oregon, USA. I'll post in the introduction thread if you actually want to know anything about me.Point of my post here is that I came across a very nice laced up track set of these Mack/Gromada hubs the other day. Let's just say I paid a lot less than they are worth. Especially considering the USD exchange rate right now.
So, I was wondering if anyone has serviced their Mack/Gromada hubs yet? I was trying to figure out how to remove the cups and get at the bearing cartridges. However I didn't want to start banging and destroy the whole hub.
Anyone know how to service them, or possibly want to draw me a diagram, make me a vid?
I'm fairly good with my bikes, like I said, I just didn't want to destroy these beautiful hubs. -

The silver ones are nice. Mine have that odd finish like the silver Sugino 75s. It's almost oily.
I also figured out how to replace the bearings.
Had a beer or four and decided to to some detective work. Thought maybe they came off like the ENO hubs. ended up getting one side off to discover that the whole axle pushes out the bearing and cup. So, malleted a little, being careful as I can on a six-pack, and there it was. Everything in pieces, but still usable.
I'll link up my blog when I update with the parts breakdown and bearing cartridge sizes.

Hi I'll be interested in seeing that, I'm just having some wheels built up with a set (feel like I should do it ) He described them as silver though they are more of a very pale blue anodised....unlike any others I've seen they have a brushed finish to the centre of the hub and the MACK is etched in black....I think he must have been experimenting! Still sweet hubs though!

Hey guys!
Finally got around to posting the photos. Gromada also replied with some info on replacing the bearing cartridges.
Sadly, I was a little drunk when I did the cartridge install/removal and forgot to take photos.I will do another one covering the bearing cartridge installs soon.
Enjoy this for now - http://maxisnow.com/2008/10/bikes-gromada-hubs/
