Livingasleep: Its just a bit of moisture. Take the saddle off, a little oil / grease on the rails, then put it back on. Fixed.

its a Selle Italia XO saddle.
The seat post is an average, nothing special mountain bike micro adjust thing.I can see that the bottom part of the rail clamp is bent, due to the previous saddle having thicker rails.
The new saddle is held in place but it has a bit of play when you rock it back and forth, more than it should.
So is a home made shim ok in this case?

livingasleep, have you checked to see if your seatpost is too high, i.e. above the maximum extension. I had a lot of creaking and that was the problem

Dont know if you have, but grease the point of contact between your rails and saddle... if that doesnt work chuck the fucker...nothing more annoying.

What i would do is, cut an inch of innertube and coil around the rail. then clamp and tighten.

have you tried putting a condom over the seat post before inserting into the seat tube, this will stop that noise & keep moister out.

I had this exact problem.
Have you tightened the nut at the front of the saddle yet?
If not - I guarantee that that will fix it. -

saddle rails prob - deferably agree on the Coke tin wrap to pack out the space- mind you Tango may be better- you bin Tangoed!
Creaking saddle- first check bollocks and squirt with WD40 if in any doubt, secondly turn the saddle upside down any way you wish, and squirt WD40 into the recess behind the nose of the saddle, where the bolt and the nose touch, as that gets dry and causes squeaking on a number of saddles.
If all else fails just eat beans, and the resulting noise will drown the squeaking...

Saddle rails: firmly clamped now via coke-tin-shim.... Thanks.
Good luck with yer creakin' saddle livingasleep.... let us know how you get on.
My new saddle is not being gripped tightly enough by the seat clamp.
The old saddle had pretty hefty rails.
Is it a safe solution to use a shim to fill up the space and get the clamp to hold the seat tight?
