In theory it also works if you've stripped the hell out of your BB threads.
As to whether it's good... you don't know until you try. I won't be trying it any time soon though.

Call me a mechanical imbercile (some do, some don't) but I can't work out how the bloody thing works. It looks like the BB cups screw in as normal and leave you with those two big brown doofers.
Can anyone enlighten me?Toodle pip

I can't see how it works either. I thought frames with EBBs had an enlarged bottom bracket 'hole' (is there a proper word?) so that the BB can move around inside. If you've got a normal BB hole surely the BB will just fill it up :S

It fits on the outside of the BB. The groove fits that.
Then with the BB on the outside, you can move the axle around the inside.

So you're saying that this will actually work?
I have a frame frome a Hybrid (MTB/racer) that I would like to make into a Fixie...Or do you guys have a better way?

Just following a similar thread on other forum with first hand experience of people who have fitted the exzentiquer BB and it seems that it works fine for ss. The cranks have to be hollowtech. If fitting a MTB crank, you may need to file the inside part of the crank where the granny attaches as, I believe, this exzentriker BB is designed for road cranks with two (not three rings). Still, for the price it retails, I will go for the ENO hub, specially if you are going to run it on a fixed where there is no problems with rear brake going out of placement.
A couple of pics to see an actual installation of the exzentriker BB on a ss

Hi
Was thinking of getting one of these for a 1990 peugeot road bike. Are they any good and what are the alternatives. The bike has vertical drop outs and I don't fancy cutting them out and having horizontals welded in.
Dare i mention chain tensioners (for a SS not for a fixie) and if so whats the best!
Cheers

AndySpend over £130 on a silly BB adapter for a frame worth half that?
The £130 on its own would get you a decent singlespeed specific frame or pay for you to have track ends professionally fitted.
OR, you could get one of these eccentric hubs:

it's a bit shit really since it widens the bottom bracket width by quite a bit. no good.

Ok so BB not so hot. Chain tensioners are the way forward. Should I ask here ( and risk upsetting people/hippy) or should I find the thread about them and continue from there.
Thanks for the help so far.

What about this? Is that a good idea?
An excentric bottom bracket for standard frames! Fix to standard frames and brings the possibility to adjust the chain tension (for gear hubs and single speed). So you don't need a chain tensioner, adjustable drop outs or tandem bottom bracket any more. The Excentriker is easy to install and brings you a smooth optic on your bike!
Cruz, i thought you'd fucked off in a sulk.
Again.

Think about it Dylan...it runs new style shimano cranks...with a fixed BB axle...so it can't widen the bottom bracket any more than a standard shimano BB...or the left hand crank wouldn't fit on...:)

i'm quite happy to be corrected, thats how you learn isn't it :)
Looking at the vid though it seemed to put an extra 5mm atleast on each side, but if it fits standard shimano BB, they must be quite wide already ? ya /no ?

The BB spindle on new style shimano cranks is part of the right hand crank...so if you add 5mm on each side of the BB then the spindle would be 10mm too short to fit in the left crank....if that makes sense?

the eno is gorgeous, solves problem + adds bling!

aha, ye i get you. didn't realise shimano changed their cranks to that. Is that a good thing ?
so ye this eccentric BB must have been made to fit, but what size is the BB spindle ? must be pretty wide though, too wide i'd reckon.
109-111 for a good chainline, and by the looks of it the shimano is wider than that.
