Providing I don't disgrace myself on the Docklands ride by wiping out and taking a fellow forumenger down with me/doing something equally dickish, I'd quite like to do this. I don't have many miles under me belt though so can anyone shed a little light as to whether 44x16 is sensible gearing for this ride? Also...is anyone else (apart from the above) planning on bringing their geared bikes? If veteran forumengers are bringing geared bikes it's making me think that me doing this fixed is just plain ridiculous.

wools, you should be fine on that gear.
We will go at a decent pace with some tearing of the front every now and again, but not racing and we always regroup soon enough. You are not going to be left behind in the middle of the countryside. As to whether you can physically do the distance, that is in your own mind. The last Dunwich was completed in decent times by 15 year old girls on mountain bikes and that was twice as far.
You just have to keep pedalling.- MA3K

Might have to blow out of this. My old patella tendonitis has flared up again.
Yes, I could HTFU, but after 5 hours of my patella rubbing diagonally across my femur instead of horizontially it starts to get a bit much.
MA3K, I can still sort the route sheet either way if you like, just let me know.
-
• #120
Any help would be appreciated, but if you are in pain don't bother with messing about with route sheets etc. Just get better and we will see you on the next ride if it comes to that.
Thanks. -

Jim Jams and I are looking at organising a "Let's see how we handle hills" ride over Chrystal Palace on Monday after work finishing at South Drinks in Clapham.
Keep 'em peeled for the new thread.

North Drinks on Tuesdays will give you some hill training too.

I'm working in the New Forest all week renowned for it's hills. At least I can put a few miles in before the weekend. It's on. I might have even converted back to gears. How very dare I.

who me dear, gears dear, no dear.
I haven't built my bike yet, and my missus is getting a bit pissed off at me going off to hang with people on this forum. Think I'm a fail for this. :[ I'm becoming a ride flake.
Bollocks, really fancy this but I'm in Sicily that weekend. Oh well you can't have it all.
