  • Im trying to get rid of what gear I have.

Fancy gear, and effects & distortion in general is fun to jam with in an expressive yet nieve kinda way.

I find that people who are amazing players and session musicians etc, tend to just have one or two basic reliable guitars.

With skilled varied 'highly musical' playing, you rarely notice characteristics of the gear, just marvel at the music. Which is the way it should be I think.

That's true...although having loads of guitars doesn't make you a bad guitarist...it just doesn't make you a good one either...honestly to most people the majority of my guitars would just all seem the same, four PRS' isn't really variety but it's the way I've got them set up makes the difference and then my Ibanez was only purchased for the Floyd Rose which isn't available on any stock PRS models, then there's acoustics which is a whole different ballgame, they really are all different and no matter how good you are their individual tone will ring out quite strongly in comparison with electrics... then you've got completely different tones from different pickups, different woods, two "identical" guitars from any good manufacturer will sound completely different unless you're Van Halen...he could play a sweeping brush and make it sound like him ;)
