Why don’t Transeuropa carry bicycles?
We do not currently have the infrastructure in either port to handle bicycles in a safe and financially viable manner. However, we are constantly reviewing our position with regard to this type of traffic. If you would be interested in travelling by bicycle, please send an email to the Ramsgate office and we will advise you if our policy changes.http://www.transeuropaferries.co.uk/html/faq.html
Go via Dover..

I was gonna cycle to brussels next weekend, (but had my road bike nicked today) it's shit that they dont take bikes on the ferry, I was gonna do Harwich-hook of holland and pedal down from there, about 170km, reckon would take about 7 hours. Now don't even have a bike to do it on :-(

Oh dear that's annoying. Maybe I'll try to persuade a friend to drive, meet him at Ramsgate and pile the bikes in a van for the crossing. Hopefully a weekend drinking in Bruges will be enough incentive.
mobidog, sorry to hear about your loss.

You could try ringing Trasmanche and hoping you get a human being. I was under the impression that they had started taking foot passengers which suggests that pushbikes should not be a problem but there may be some sort of health and safety problem. Surely a bike could be counted as hand luggage under those circumstances, it might be worth trying to talk yourself on board...
Failing that, you could try Norfolk Line who have a route from Dover to Zeebrugge which would put a few kilometres on your journey. But as far as I know they don't take foot passengers, though I think they take motorbikes. (www.norfolkline.com)
Other than that, as far as I know P&O Ferries and Seafrance take pushbikes on their Dover-Calais routes but that's taking you a long way out of your way.

you can take bikes on the Harwick - Hook route, book on the sailrail site and choose the bike option, I think it's £7 extra. Only prob is if you take the late crossing, you have to pay for a cabin. pricey but nice - I love any type of travel where you get to have a sleep as well.

'And which side are the midgets going to be on'
'I'm a dwarf, man'

Bloody good film that, I have a DivX of it if anybody wants it.
I am planning a trip from London to Bruges. The idea was to cycle to Ramsgate then get the ferry to Ostend, but as far as I can tell the ferry (TransEuropa Ferries) doesn't take bikes. Anyone know if this is the case, and if there's any way round this?
