  • Dear all,

Just a quick question to see if anyone has any recommended places to lock up yr bike around Liverpool St station - notorious theft hot-spot....

I've locked it with the others in front of macdonalds before, but only for a few hours, doesn't feel safe enough for prolonged night time storage!

And also, do people really steal saddles?

    Thanks in advance.

  • brick lane?

  • isnt this thread asking for trouble???

  • I have a similar question because I will be commuting out from Liverpool street from next week, and need to lock my (ugly!) bike 08:00 - 19:00.
    Advice appreciated!

  • just a bit of common sense needed...

  • ..anywhere covered from elements?

  • leave it un-locked prav, chances are the theif will get about 10 yards before stacking it, based on last nights efforts ;)

  • Prolonged night-time storage: don't bother unless your bike's pengy.

    Why not buy a brompton?

  • it's actually a very stable ride...
EDIT - OP, I wouldn't want to lock up overnight regularly in the same area...

  • what happened last night greasy/prav?

  • personally i wouldn't lock up round there...
bearing in hex nuts, shit bike, 2 different types of locks... max out on security.

  • There's an NCP on White's Row (oh, don't they just) that might be OK, where trixie chicks-with-dicks meets

  • So where do I lock up Shinscab??
@skully - it was me falling off my bicycle in drunken backwards trackstand Westie times. twice.

  • 1, loads of people lock up outside the police station funny subway looking thing on bishops gate.
2, Bike rack to the right of the station entrance off bishops gate

  • Nowhere is safe around there...I wouldn't leave it for sure over night...if they want they will get it...make it so the next persons looks easier than yours...sad but true!!!

  • Cheers Shin. I used to go through there a lot but never stopped to look... :-P

  • is there no way you can take your bike with you?

  • National express trains at rush hour?.. it's bad enough getting to the platform at all!

  • what happened last night greasy/prav?

Prav's bike tried to kill me. And Prav. And others I think.

i have a sore shoulder today and realise I my head nearly got rolled over by a car.

  • After yesterday I have named my bike 'Evil Herbie'.

  • Personally, I'd never lock my bike up for long after dark, especially not out the back of Liverpool St (although technically that's the front). It's too flash, even if I say so myself.

  • Just took a look on the national express east anglian website..

    http://www.nationalexpresseastanglia.com/services/cycle_information

"On intercity services between Norwich and London Liverpool Street we can carry up to 6 cycles at a time in the Guard’s van, but you must reserve a space. The van will be locked 3 minutes before departure time so please arrive at Liverpool Street and Norwich in good time to make sure your cycle is safely on board by then."

    Restrictions based on time are:
"on any services arriving at Stratford or Liverpool Street between 07.45 and 09.45 on Monday to Friday (except reserved spaces on intercity services).

on any services leaving Stratford or Liverpool Street between 16.30 and 18.30 on Monday to Friday (except reserved spaces on intercity services)."

  • the train's very old, I'm not entirely surprised that it didn't have the generous space that the SWT have.

  • @provenrad
I live about 15min walk away from Liverpool St. If you're really concerned you could drop it of on my balcony an pick it up when you get back.
PM or call if this is any use

  • Don't leave it in the same place every day.
