  • cyclefit is in the very heart of Old london town's Old London. Covent garden.

  • cyclefit is in the very heart of London town's stag and hen night epicentre, little newcastle-upon-tyne.

    fixed.

  • Bespoke is in Hoxton Square. Give Barry a call, he's well into what he does and does all motion capture shit. It's a geeks dream I tell thee.

  • Its not quite been a week since the cyclefit and the difference it has made to my riding has been huge.

I have had no knee problems at all, the numbness in my hands is greatly reduced and cycling feels much easier.

The knee is probably down to having better position in relation to the cranks, the footbeds and the wedge put under the cleat on the right foot.

I have not had any numbness in the hands for a few days, I assume this is because I am now much more conscious of the correct position and there is less strain on my back and neck. I had been complaining that it never felt like I returned to the same position on my bike prior to the fitting. Now there is no squirming around trying to find a comfortable position, it just naturally occurs and when I remind myself I concentrate on achieving a neutral spine position. Though I am now thinking that my specialised toupe saddle probably needs to go, it is the weakest link in the whole set up in terms of my comfort.

My legs feel that they are working almost effortlessly - they are spinning much more comfortably. I am not sure if I can get quite so much power into my acceleration as my legs go much straighter now though this is hard to quantify as I don't have a cycle computer to compare my performance before and after the cyclefit. It may just be that it is all so much easier there is less effort required.

I almost enjoy going slowly as my bike is so much more comfortable. I travelled all over London last weekend and had no particular aches by the end of it.

I was really impressed that they did not try to flog me any parts or make me buy a new stem etc, instead (though perhaps I was just lucky) my current stem just needed to be flipped and a few other bits tweaked.

My conclusion is that it is not a cheap service but that it was money really well invested in my future cycling pleasure. Yes perhaps I could have achieved the same position by trial and error but this would have taken a great deal of time, possibly more parts bought to try and improve things and continued discomfort (and potential physio bills etc).

If you are happy with your bike and don't feel there are any problems then stick with it. If you are concerned that it does not fit correctly or wish to get your details for potentially having a frame built I would certainly recommend them.

  • James can I ask how much was the fitting?

£175 but if you join londondynamo there is a discount

also if you get a frame from them some of the cost is rebated against the frame

yes its expensive but considered against £45-50 for a physio session it seems like good value - I do a lot of sport and am used to swallowing costs for physios but did not want cycling to add more to my treatment costs

  • I almost enjoy going slowly as my bike is so much more comfortable.

and that is what cyclefit are good at.

    Who did your fitting, Phil?

  • I am not sure if I can get quite so much power into my acceleration as my legs go much straighter now.

You can probably get more power into your acceleration - it's why timetriallists set their saddles high: the more extended the leg, the 'stronger' it is.
