last week I was chatting to a mechanic, he suggested i turn the chain over every so often, to even out wear. sounded cool at the time but the wear is circumferential, so it really shouldn't matter.
back to the thread - does chain wear only matter when your chain starts jumping? i seem to remember something about it increasing the gap in your chainring teeth, such that when it does finally start popping, the new replacement chain no longer sits properly in the worn chainring, ie, false economy, replace chain regularly, using the chain checker. apparently 1% stretch and its time to replace but that's manufacturer optimism
