i used condor as an example of a major bike shop,im sure most people would prefer to shop in an independent shop like Cavendish cycles..i know i would.
@ aidan: Condor are an independent bike shop! OK, not your average LBS, but they are independent - the reason they are bigger than your LBS is because they have an excellent reputation, and they have been around forever.
You can tell that Condor are independent: Evans have opened a shop in the same street. Although I see where you are coming from, I have a problem with the statement above.
@ billa See this thread and stop slagging people off behind their backs.

Only had good service from Cavandish. I needed my bike valued for insurance, they did it for free. I wanted a wheel trued and they taught me how to do it myself (for free). The only problem I have had is that sometimes they don't let me pay and that was before I started buying all my stuff from them.

They were really helpful to me when I bought my IRO. On a Saturday. But the two staff in there were both English, don't know that other geezer.
racist!

I think it is because I go on a Saturday and they don't seem too busy. At 8.30 in the morning weekdays there are usually queues outside and lunchtimes are hectic.

I'm going to give you some reputation for that, and I'd accept it graciously if I were you, seeing as it's been bequeathed by a giant amongst reputees.
