Welcome, and if you're strapped for cash, may I recommend a Flipflop Hub? That way only one wheel needed!

i doesn't have to be a flip-flop, a fixed-fixed will accept a freewheel on either side.

im just sorting out my build,i was going to be sensible with open pros,but luv the deep vs,but are they practical for someone like me who will be using the bike for winter miles in the surrey/sussex lanes

Hmm, having trouble tracking down a suitable frame, all the frames with big names seem to be largely over budget...
any other places than ebay/this forum to get a frame online? oh and gumtree is shit in bristol.
