have you accounted for import duty, handling fee's and Vat?
better off with a bob jackson for less money. -
• #3
that panasonic does look fecking awesome though.
Your not exactly limited with 400 quid to spend though, im sure you could get a colnago, holdsworth, bob jackson or something similar off ebay for that.
Just depends on whether you want brand new or not. -

well...its 500 quid on the nail for frame and postage, i haven't accounted for import tax, though i was hoping that it wouldn't be too excessive anyway? dont really know about it though.
Was considering a bob jackson, though i'm thinking i want something a little less obvious...

Tax could sting you nastily.
dont try and underestimate it, could be anywhere up to 35% really -

Can you find a way to cut out the Australian middle-man?
Maybe try order direct from Panasonic or a Japanese source? -
• #7
You'll be looking to pay atleast another £100 on top after Customs and Excise have got hold of it, not even accounting for those tonsils at Parcelforce after that.....

there are quite a few regional builders in the u.k that make nice track frames it's just they don't appear on the hipster radar, often because they have little or no web presence and are more used to catering to local club member cyclists/racers/tourers (jf wilson in sheffield for example)

im not sure why the price is in austarlian dollars, but i think the frame is coming from japan, there's a link to the online shop (in Japan) i think.
Those custom fuckers, is there anyway to get around them??
fuck parcelforce i'll pick it up from customs myself! -

£500 frame + shipping, + 10% (approx) Duty = £550, +17.5% VAT = £646.25, + ParcelFarce handling/extortion fee (£13) =
£659.25
Ouch!

the guy that makes those "national" frames devoted 34 years to cryogenic silver-alloy brazing and welding.. they should be plenty stong..

Don't Panasonic make to order....that would cut out the middle man and get you a custom frame...alternatively check out either an Ocean (formerly Vivalo) or a Kalavinka, both of which are quality Japanese steel and custom order, both should clock in fairly close to your budget depending on how carried away with extras you get in your order
Alright People,
I'm in the market for a track frame, i found an online ebay shop which sells new panasonic's which look pretty decent... there about £430 but more like £500 with postage. I was only really wanting to spend about £400 but i'm considering going for one of these.
I would really appreciate your opinions on the frame, and even suggestions of where else i could look/other brands etc...
cheers,
Jamie
