oh, and you might want to look at sheldon brown's page about fixed gear conversions.
with the kind of dropouts you have (vertical), you won't be able to go fixed (without unnecessary expense and hassle). you can however go ss with a chain tensioner.
but if you get your dropouts replaced and intend to go fixed, make sure you get track ends or horizontal dropouts fitted.
