  • I thought it would be interesting to hear what skills/tricks everyone can do.

Ive not had a working bike for much of this year, havent really been trying any 'tricks' yet but am comfortable with:

    1. Trackstand (bars turn left = stronger)

    2. No hand trackstand

    3. Back ward circles

    4. Bunny Hops

    5. Skidding/skipping (only regular footed) & reverse pedalling to stop

    Working on/close to:

    1. 180 skid to fakie out

    2. no handed backward circle

    3. Riding backwards

Things that I definetley cannot do, that I really want to:

    1. Ride my fixed bike with no hands (however simple that sounds)
    2. Wheelie
    3. Barspins (got drops! & no clearance)
    4. Bunnyhop up kerbs confidently
    5. Spinning on the back wheel.

    And you?

  • My skills include:

    • spelling and grammar
    • caustic wit
    • helping young people
    • garnering rep points by the fistful
    • being kind to dimwits
    • eating chips

Things I really want to learn how to do:

    • use the ignore function for retarded 'ooh i'm bored what can i write' threads

on a scale of retardedness its positively sensible. people can share tips on stuff innit. From the 'trackstand direction' thread, I was getting the hint that people wanted to share more about what level they are at. Also, I had a good search, seems to be a big lack of trick based threads.

  • err. having had a fixed for 4 months, and being rather lazy when it comes to tricks:

    1. trackstands <-- is that even a trick?
    2. 1 handed trackstand
    3. wallrides
    4. 180 bunnyhops <--only on the flat, not up anything

    learning:

    1. backward circles
    2. skidding with any control
  • my skills include:

    1. wiping my bottom properly (right handed, left handed - working on no handed) (with paper: close to completing)
    2. noseplant down the stairs to answer the phone when my trousers are still round my ankles
    3. not going over the handlebars while breaking wind along the Old Kent Road
    4. going successfully over the handlebars while applying the appropriate amount of front brake suddenly and decisively, e.g. to avoid ploughing into a pedestrian
    5. preparing a syringe with minimal wasteage of barbiturate when Countdown's starting.
  • PJ +rep but the forum wont allow it.

To me those both sound far above what I can imagine doing, wallrides? I tried to ride up a very shallow bank, pedal striked straight away and almost got thrown!

And I can only just about do a 180 hop on my BMX, to do it on a road bike would be nuts.

Backwards circles are bloody easy, got em straight away. Youll be doing em in to time. Its easier on bikes that have a foward weight bias, or just lean foward a lot!

  • I can ride a bike from my flat to any location necessary (including the pub) without crashing.

    Same for me.

To add a skill - I can read documents when they are upside down. This is a very helpful skill in job interviews I find.

  • i can adjust my lycra when i get a case of the assos wedgie without stopping pedaling.

  • I take it that the OP excelled himself in terms of juvenile crassness?
    Quelle surprise...

  • i can conceal my london accent when i'm in the regions, and my westcountry burr when i'm in the capital .

ASM - you be biggin' yourself up too much there, bro. you can't ride with out crashing. you lie.

    Same here.

I have no skills, I still have to pay the bills though :(

  • I can ride a bike from my flat to any location necessary (including the pub) without crashing.

Can you ride it back again? - that's the trick bit.

  • I take it that the OP excelled himself in terms of juvenile crassness?
    Quelle surprise...

Juvenile crassness only due to peer pressure. This was only supposed to be a thread about how to master extremeley useful skills such as riding backwards and doing pirouettes on completely sensible bicycles, of course.

they are just extentions from mtb/bmx for me... but thanks for the backward circles tip, been having big trouble.. i can get 3/4s round, and then it normally goes to pot :(

  • hahaha....awsome.
i think this could turn out to be almost as good as that guy selling a spoke on ebay.

  • repped you mr.pj

  • Can you ride it back again? - that's the trick bit.

    yes!!!!

  • and fuck me Lethal Cnut Bag, you don't half come out with some stupid threads.

  • ol' deadly unipack, he be illin'.

    1. Back ward circles

    nhs?

well get out there and practice then, instead of "frontin" the forum with your posting "skilz"

and number 5 is really fucking easy, just ride, the back wheel will spin round, amazing.
