LondonFgSs.com email addresses and aliases

  • I had a request to help with the polo tournament by creating a team email alias.

The gist of this is that the team wanted to:

    • Set up a user for their team
    • have it so that when that user was PM'd, that all team members were notified

Basically it's an email list where the name of the list is the team name, and all of the team members are on the list, and then they register a user on the forum using that email address, and after that whoever contacts the team is implicitly talking to the whole team.

    Easy stuff, so done.

Emailing teamname@londonfgss.com will now CC the three people in that team. (They're not really called 'teamname', that's an 'example'.)

Now, since I've set up that facility for that team I might as well open it to everyone.

You can have a mailing list if you want one, just let me know what you want the list called, and all of the email addresses you want to go onto it.

Additionally, if you want a gmail account that is related to the londonfgss.com domain, you can have that too (or separately).

    Summary:
If you want yourname@londonfgss.com as a Gmail account, just ask.
If you want listname@londonfgss.com as a mailing list, just ask and let me know all of the email addresses you want to be on the list.

    Cheers

    David

Instructions for setting up a team member and email list:
    1) Decide on team name.
    2) PM VelocityBoy the team name and the email addresses of each person in the team.
    3) Once VelocityBoy has setup your mailing list, register a new user for the team using the mailing list address as your registration email address.
    4) Finished, party!

Instructions for setting up a londonfgss.com gmail account:
    1) PM VelocityBoy your desired email address as well as your first name and last (I cannot create it without a first name or last name)
    2) Wait until VelocityBoy PMs you back your account details and temporary password.

  • Oh, and if you're on a mailing list and want to reply to the mailing list rather than someone who emailed the mailing list, then make sure you reply to listname@londonfgss.com and not the sender... by default replies are not sent to the mailing list.

Oh, and one more thing... YOU CAN'T REPLY TO PM'S VIA EMAIL. That's kinda to everyone. I was receiving the replies for a while, but now replies are filtered into my trash and unless I look they'll be deleted without me or anyone ever reading it. To reply to a PM, come back to the site and reply to the PM.

  • vb thank you very much...
    No Sympathy

  • Guys this is really easy follow vbs instructions... i think this is a good way to organise team games with the league etc.

You know, it might be better than you think. If all teams have usernames, I could create a league table system and allow someone to manage it.

    Hmm, thoughts whirring.

  • yeah good stuff...go david!!!

  • Instructions for how to set this stuff now at the bottom of the first post.

  • Bring it on!

  • Hmm.

I might need a way to identify teams... I think others might need that too.

    I'll think of something.

  • in the about me ive added our names

  • *"Cheers

    David"

    David/Velocity boy = [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizophrenia[/ame]

  • David/Velocity boy = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizophrenia

I was trying to make it so that if you PM'd the instructions to someone, then they'd know who the hell this David was.

I hate talking about myself in third party or using the royal 'we', but it happens too often in cyberspace.

  • Hey VB, any chance of killing the nursery time for teams? I've got some terrible photoshop avataring I want to show off.

  • Yes. Grant me my rights.
    Please.
