Also, don't freak out and get mad because you're too stupid to realize that it's a junction where we do not have the right of way, and you should've slowed the frig down anyway! Just because you're a serious contender for a Darwin Award, doesn't mean I have to be!!!
no reason to slow down at most junctions.

I just don't get this lack of common sense on the roads. It too really gets on my tits when peeps try to undertake me. The space is there is for my safety. I already have deeply embedded drains, broken glass, slippery red lines and other shit found near the curb to contend with without the added obstacle of some prick thinking he can slip through on my inside. Especially when there are speeding coaches on my outside intent on trying to kill me by cutting me up. C+/BikeRadar rant over.

Dude, that's why your name is Chris "Crash" and I'm a cuddly pink bear.

+1 to better observation- I stopped at a pedestrian crossing to let a woman with a buggy cross.
Had just stopped when a bloke on a hybrid slammed into me from behind- he had not realised that I was going to slow down, then not noticed when my speed dropped fast.
The large belisha beacons and black and white stripes on the road+ person standing next to them were not enough of a hint clearly. -

I hope you reprimanded him for his actions in the appropriate manner!

I nearly rode in to a cab this morning (tight squeeze around Seven Dials / Covent Garden) - my fault.
The cabdriver rolled down his window and said "save yourself, not the planet". Great quote!
PS totally agree with Roxy's issue about people overtaking from the inside / the left. Really annoying.

That reasoning is highly subjective. No reason not to respect the discretion, determination and comfort level of the rider in front.

Oh... and if it's very obvious that I'm faster than you (i.e. I overtook you about 5 minutes ago, and the only reason you caught up with me is because I stopped at a red light), then do not pull out in front of me at said red light, forcing me to have to overtake you again as soon as the light turns green.
+1 - That drives me insane. Especially when it's "I've overtaken you at the last 5 lights"

I disagree. You get to rub their noses in it x 5.You look all nonchalant and effortless in the saddle while they are en dansant huffing and puffing, not understanding that most of their effort is being absorbed by their suspension forks and off road tyres.

I get under-taken on the left all the time. It seems to be moto's more then cycles though. I'm not riding too high in the road, they are just extremely impatiant. When they do under-take they then block the way for cycles on the inside of traffic, that pisses me off.

i get undertaken by almost everything passing me, as i ride on the outside, its safer, and faster, generally.

I see it as a challenge.. either how fast I can re-pass them or I let them get up the road a bit and pass them with my eyes closed, hands in my pockets, not breathing.. just for a laugh :)

This thread and the 'Riding Drunk' thread make an interesting contrast.

I don't get undertaken or overtaken by anything less than 500cc :)

I regularly getted waved at by friendly motorists on my way home down Priory Lane (the road to richmond park)......I always give a cheery wave and flash my pearly white teeth back at them.
Some especially friendly drivers even try to get close enough to me to talk to me about the lovely cycle lane across on the other side of the road. Sadly I never get to chat with them because they're going too fast for me. Still, it brightens up my day a little to know they care. -

In all seriousness (and I know I've mentioned this before), there is a real disconnect between what we think is safe road positioning and what motorists think is us taking up too much room, bordering on being antagonistic. Most of the 'friendly chats' I've had with motorists (a la Kipsy above) have come about as a result of this.

Fuck 'em. They think they win because they have more mass.. and then they get a closer look when I confront them at the lights and do the 'truffle shuffle' from Goonies :D
-

the road is not a race track. not for you, thinking you awarded pole position by winning between lights nor for the guy overtaking in the 'pit lanes' in front of the lights

Same.
Speed and position will get you out of a lot of trouble if you are going quick enough.
You are less likely to be overtaken dangerously (in London) by buses and cars if you go a little quicker and stay away from the side. -

Pedant: It can be a race track. Monaco? the Adelaide and Melbourne GPs, all of Melbourne's crit circuits.. :)
If your getting over taken your not riding hard enough!
