  • Okay here's the deal.....

a sunday ride in the surrey hills. Lord knows it's a tough place to take a fixie but bound to be the most beautiful and rewarding ride you can do near to london. Yes it is going to hurt and Yes you will wish you had never come along but this is what it is all about.

    38 miles

    5 hills : Pitch hill

            Holmbury hill
            Leith hill
            Box hill
            Ranmore common

and plenty more up and downs inbetween that don't have names!!!!

before you shit your pants and log off, take a god damn look at yourself and remember this: You can do it! we can take it easy and have tea and cakes along the way. Everyone will support each other. You remember how it felt when you got to the top of Devil's Dyke and your mates were clapping and chearing? well times it by 5.
add your name and make this one to remember!!!!!

  • I seem to remember it differently..

Remember how it felt when you got to the top of Devil's Dyke and your mates were gasping and walking?

Sounds good, if nothing clashes I'll come.

  • I like the sound of this one

  • Sorry Mr Smoker but this fat hill hater will be in Wales again.. will meet you on the roads again some other time.

  • where are you leaving from?

  • some details.

    sunday 5/10/08

9.30am train from waterloo to effingham jnct

nearer the time we'll get specific. right now just concentrate on ditching anything that mght weigh you down e.g. morals, conscience etc

  • Sounds good. Love crisp October mornings.

    70/30 up for this.

  • Hello
Which cog/chainrings are you planning to use
    cheers

  • i'm possibly up for this, will probably ride back though if i do it. 35miles is a bit short for a ride.

as for which cog/chainrings i use miche and EAI.

a 68-73 inch gear is fine for round there, no need to walk any of the hills, even box hill can easily be ridden seated.

  • Box Hill is not the worst of those hills.... tho by the sound of it you will be going down the zig-zag. Going up onto Ranmore Common from Box is a bitch!

  • i wouldnt mindt meeting up with you guys for this one,not sure if ill have my fixie by then ,am i still allow to come out and play,or will i be shunned for wearing lycra and riding a tarmac

  • I wear lycra and ride a Tarmac.. so you can piss right off with that setup biiatch!
    Joking, of corks :)

Oh no no, you are the lucky one.

  • let's not allow this to slip of the leader board. come on folks there looks to be about 10 of us so far. now lets start convincing others to come along and make this a memorable ride. i promise you this is 'IT' when it comes to riding around here. This is what 'IT' is all about.

  • nice one CS, you know i am fully down with this.

like Mr. Smith will do - anyone looking for a longer ride can just spin back to london. not been an option on our tuesday night forays into the hills cos that last train home is preferable to lugging out tired arses back to the eastend. so you can do this ride and slip in extra miles as you see fit.

shame about the clash with the Falling Leaves ride but can't imagine that many on here doing that - enjoy it andyp

  • hippy - all the best for wales,
Mr Smith - put your name down for defo and talk a few more into it. we leave from waterloo take a train to effingham junction then do the ride
Mask - get this in the diary so nothing can clash with it
MikeC, Sam, Yvesc, Willo - the ride is on so book the day off with gf's /bf's and keep an eye on here for further details.
Tony - all gears are welcome dude, see you there!!
AndyP - have a great day riding mate

  • I'll confirm nearer the time, busy time of year for me.

nothing wrong with being a smug cunt Nimbus, I'm comfortable with it. it's down to others to deal with my dysfunctional personality. you could always use the ignore button. :-)

  • I live around the corner from Eff Junction. You shouldn't have any problems on the hill going up, although leith hill on a road bike gets up to around 75kph going down ....

the fastest i have ever span on my fixed (48x18) is coming down Leith Hill, you are right. it's almost more fun going up.

get along for the ride timbo

  • I could well be up for this, although will do it geared, i will still be the last up the hills, but what the hell!
    Any more meeting details?
