Newbies first post.
Hello, soon as I've done my probation I've got a few tech questions to ask, damned frustrating having to wait.

Welcome! Keep replying and you'll soon be up to the post a new thread count. Always best to use the search function first, and duck straight away after you've posted your first thread :)

There's no existing thread that you can hijack? One of the points of the nursery period is to force you to search.

Make the nursery period expire when a new user has conducted a minimum of 20 searches and spent at least 3hrs viewing a variety of content :)

Hi fellas.
Have been floating around the forum for quite a while now and found it very helpful not to mention mildly amusing at times.
Havn't needed to post anything yet as the search button does actually work!1 down 4 to go before i may actually need to ask a question :)
John.

First post from a forum virgin. Personally, I can see the logic of the 5 posts before you are in. Like any club, it has got to be worth going through the process, if it is worth joining.

Hello all, I am Rob. I live in the Bay Area of California. I was referred here by Turpe from SFFixed, because I am going to be in London for 3 months for a study abroad program. I am not bringing a bike with me, but I will be given an unlimited pass for the underground and the busses upon arrival. I will be arriving in London Thursday morning. I was going to post a thread asking what there is to do and the such... but it seems as if I am on noob probation.

^ Hi Rob, being on probation doesn't preclude you from searching the forum. Indeed, that's pretty much its raison d'etre.
Have a good look round, there's plenty of useful stuff on here (honestly)... -

How come no bike? You'll have way more fun if you bring it over... And welcome! :)

That's a really good point, Fred... If you can't bring the bike just flog the pass and get a Fuji Track, job done... 3 month Oyster is what? £300? The numbers look good... :)

Talking of bikes, has anyone a totally knackered 58cm frame fixed wheel they want to get rid of? I am in awe of the beautiful bikes on display around the site, but could not be trusted with such paintjobs, given the way it will be treated. Also, thanks to the bike courier outside HMV in Oxford Street last Friday who recommended the site. I owe you a pint!

Well, I sold my fixed gear a couple weeks ago, so that I would have more money for the trip. I am left with my 80's Kestrel carbon mountain bike that I don't want to get damaged.

The pass is included in my program. I may take your advice, exceptthat I still have to get used to all the rain I am hearing about. haha

If I do sell the pass, I'll buy a cheap SS.
