Since brakeless BMX riding became so fashionable 4-5 years ago or so. Almost all riders (competent or not) have ditched the brakes.
Riders do all sorts of stuff to control speed, such as jumping onto a kerb crooked, scraping the back tyre to slow down.
Hop 180's, (go backward for a bit to slow down)
Regular footjam skids.

I think the guy in the video just slid out a bit, didnt look on purpose. May be wrong though.
